In East Africa, thousands of vulnerable people lose their loved ones every year to diseases that could have been prevented simply through better hygiene. These are not far off statistics. For us, it is personal. At Ayila, our journey began with grief, but grew into purpose. We watched communities suffer, families break, and dreams die, all because of poor sanitation, unsafe cleaning products, and a lack of awareness. One of our founders, Kyagulanyi Baker, lost his sister to a preventable illness and that pain planted the seed for change.  

We came together as four passionate young Ugandans with backgrounds in social entrepreneurship with one mission: to protect lives through hygiene. Ayila was born not just as a business, but as a social enterprise with heart. Today, we create insect-repellent cleaning products that combat common pests like cockroaches and flies, agents of disease that thrive in unclean environments.
